Taking regular vitamin E supplements probably won't protect you from cancer or heart disease, according to this week's issue of the Journal of the American, Medical Association. In fact, high doses appear to raise the risk of heart failure, researchers reported.

While the results of this study are significant, they are not definitive in determining the full effects of vitamin E on cancer prevention. Many factors, including genes, diets and lifestyles, can influence the development of cancer. As a result, it is difficult to isolate the precise role that vitamin E plays in cancer prevention.

For many years, vitamin E has been touted (吹嘘) as a natural and effective way to prevent a wide range of diseases, including cancer and heart disease. Its antioxidant properties (抗氧化性能) are believed to protect cells from damage that can lead to the development of these diseases. However, this new study questioned these traditional ideas about the benefits of vitamin E. Researchers found that, contrary to popular belief, taking regular vitamin E supplements did not reduce the risk of cancer or heart disease. In fact, high doses of vitamin E were associated with an increased risk of heart failure. This suggests that, rather than being a panacea (万灵药) for prevention, vitamin E may have more limited benefits.

A. Minimum doses of vitamin E will raise the risk of heart disease.

B. Vitamin E will be beneficial to preventing heart failure.

A volunteer is a person who dedicates part of his/her free time or his/her knowledge to making a useful and implicated action for others' service, without waiting for anything in exchange. Volunteering, as a social movement, has more than a century of life. Through all these years, many people and organizations have been profiling the Voluntary Action, in such a way that we can say nowadays that a volunteer, in order to be classified as such, should develop his/her function in the frame of these five points:

a)His/Her action must be personal.

b)Whatever he/she does must be done in a free and voluntary way.

c)This activity must be of a certain interest or usefulness for the society.

d)He/She will not do his/her part in isolation, but within the framework of an entity or organization.

e)He/She will do it in an altruistic and disinterested way.

At present the isolated actions that have the occasional volunteering have been exceeded, and we approach, within the well-being status, towards a collective example of free time, more abundantly and with more quality. We can make sure that the Voluntary Action is ending from being something occasional in the people's lives and it is transforming in a way of being, in a way of life.

B. help others without asking for anything in return

C. be good at doing things implicitly

D. be quite knowledgeable

17、 Which of the following statements is not true? ______
